BREAKFAST FOR A BLESSING

Christ Clinic in Katy hosted its 4th annual “Breakfast for a Blessing” on Sept. 18 at the Omni Houston Hotel Westside. This year’s guest speaker was Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale. The breakfast was a fundraiser to help the organization move into their new space. Christ Clinic offers high-quality healthcare and health-related services to those who are uninsured or underinsured. They serve those in need with a team of caring volunteers and staff. For details on Christ Clinic, visit their website at christclinickaty.org. THE WALK

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease, the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. The Katy community participated this year on Sept. 19 at LaCenterra.

LOCAL KATY ARTISTS OPEN HOUSE

Mamie George Community Center hosted its 2nd Annual Open House on Thursday, Sept. 24. The event recognized numerous community members who support the center, and highlighted the artwork of creative senior citizens. The Creative Aging Art Exhibition will remain on display at the center through November. Stop by and see the surprising collection of work by senior members and a special selection of photographs and art by community artists; Debi Beauregard, Lee Brenner, Dee Koch, and Claire Payne.

The Open House program included the “Voices of Mamie”, readings by Jeanette Washington, and testimony by Helen Mata, Jimmie Autrey and The Greenwood Family. The event also honored the services and support of The London Family, Dave Kieger, Mark Hotze, Paulette Shelton of Ft. Bend Transportation, Ana Villaronga-Roman of KCAM, Joshua Hammond of Trader Joe’s and Lorinda Brown of First Community Bank.
