ARTreach ARTsafari

ARTreach celebrated its first annual ARTsafari on Nov. 13. Over 90 guests “explored the arts” in the beautiful surroundings of the Cross Creek Ranch Community Center in Fulshear. Coordinated by event Chair Beverly Tucker, the evening featured artist presentations by ARTreach performing and visual artists, including hands-on art activities and live entertainment.

Britt Davis began the festivities with a piano sing-along, followed by performances by SonKiss’d Dance Theater and Noyes Fine Arts Foundation’s Book Bash. The music continued with the talents of jazz musicians Kim Prevost and Bill Solley. The ARTsafari theme was carried through the event with animal print décor and plants on loan from Enchanted Gardens, designed by decorations committee Chair, artist Nicole Moraw. Artwork on display included photography by Fatima Donaldson of Fatima Photography and paintings by Vickie McMillan, 2015-2016 Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Roster Artist. Visual artists donating their time to deliver hands-on activities included Misty Bartell, Mark Deleon, Becca House, Albert Goldreich, Melba Lee, Fran Mignoli and Danny Russo. From these efforts, an original painting, a community wreath and a community platter, in addition to other donated items, were part of a silent auction at the event.

The City of Fulshear and the Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce presented the annual Fulshear Festival of Lights on Dec. 5 in Downtown Fulshear. This year’s theme was a White Christmas Spectacular featuring The Lone Star Symphonic Band, an adult community organization comprised of volunteers from the greater Houston metropolitan area. The band membership is comprised of individuals from various walks of life who range in age from high school students to those in their 80s. The event also included a Parade of Lights. Vendors and stores were set up with food, crafts, clothing and jewelry. Santa arrived during the parade and included a children’s area with a live Nativity Scene. The event concluded with a Christmas fireworks display.

BMW of West Houston recently previewed the luxurious new 2016 BMW 7 Series at an invitation-only event held at a private residence in the Memorial area. Eyes on Houston and other guests were entertained by Strings Attached, with wine and champagne from Dionisio Winery and hors d’oeuvres from celebrity chef Donna Vallone. Viewing pieces from Houston contemporary artist Taft McWhorter was a visual treat.

The new BMW has all the whistles and bells you would expect from a new modern luxury car — the carbon-core chassis creates a lower center of gravity, which, combined with a 445-horsepower V8, will take it from 0-60 mph in only 4.3 seconds. Learn more at
