Mik’s Hidden Hearts Alliance

Mik’s Hidden Hearts Alliance partnered again with Maggiano’s Little Italy for the 2015 3rd Annual Anti-PROM for teens and young adults with Dysautonomia and other life-changing chronic illnesses. Any high school- age teen or college-age adult with a life-changing chronic illness was welcome to attend. Prom included dinner, casino and prizes.

Dysautonomia is considered a “hidden illness” because often time the sufferer looks healthy. However, it is a complex condition caused by a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. It affects the cardiovascular, endocrine, metabolic and gastrointestinal systems and can cause very painful and debilitating symptoms. For more information visit their website at

Teacher of the Year Luncheon

The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce honored Katy ISD’s teachers of the year at the annual luncheon held May 13 at the Merrell Center. Kerry Gilbert was the speaker. Sixty-one teachers were given gift bags full of goodies and checks from Katy Chamber members. La Centerra’s Big Backyard BBQ

LaCenterra’s 4th of July Celebration kicked off Saturday, July 4 at 4:30 p.m. with a Kids Patriotic Bike Parade located at Central Green at LaCenterra. Kids participated with their decorated, patriotic bikes and met in LaCenterra’s Courtyard and then paraded to Central Green. Prizes were given to the “Most Patriotic Bike.” The main event started at 5:30 p.m. with a live musical performance in the courtyard with Chris Boss, interactive Kids Zone located in Central Green and food for purchase throughout La Centerra. The evening concluded with an extraordinary fireworks display.
