Proceeds benefit Fort Bend Women’s Center and its programs to help victims of domestic violence

Fort Bend Women’s Center’s new PennyWise store in Katy is now open. This is the Women’s Center’s fourth PennyWise store and is located at 323 S. Mason Rd. between Dollar Tree and Fiesta Mart.

The store celebrated its Grand Opening on Wednesday, Dec. 6 with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Katy Chamber of Commerce and the Women’s Center. Shoppers who attended the ribbon cutting received special coupons for future “doorbuster” deals at specific shopping times. Guests also had the opportunity to win door prizes, gift cards, and PennyWise gift cards. In addition, the first 100 guests received a free goodie bag. Live holiday entertainment was provided along with light refreshments.

The new PennyWise store features a full inventory of furniture, housewares, home decor, and men’s, women’s and children’s clothing. There will also be a boutique area with hand-selected high quality purses, footwear, prom dresses, cocktail dresses, bridal and other formal attire.

PennyWise Resale Stores play a vital role in supporting Fort Bend Women’s Center’s lifesaving services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children. Items donated to PennyWise are either given directly to survivors and their families to help them start new lives or are sold to raise funds for the Women’s Center’s services.

“Whether you are spring cleaning or bargain hunting, when you support our PennyWise stores, you are bringing healing and hope to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault,” says Vita Goodell, CEO of Fort Bend Women’s Center. “The Katy community has been very generous to the Women’s Center over the past several years. We are excited that this new location will make shopping and donating even more convenient for Katy residents.”

A full list of PennyWise Resale Stores and Donation Center locations is available  at fbwc.org/pennywise. PennyWise also offers a free donation pick-up service for larger items. To request a pickup, call 281-344-5777 or email pick-ups@fbwc.org.
