Cinco Ranch Cheer qualified for finals after day one, and finished ninth out of 125 squads in the 6A Division. The Varsity squad is made up of juniors and seniors and is coached by Loren Williamson. The Junior Varsity squad is made up of freshman, sophomores and juniors and is coached by Erica Wood.

KATY ISD MORTON RANCH HIGH MAVERICK BELLES PARTICIPATE IN SUPER BOWL HALFTIME

On Feb. 5, the Katy ISD Morton Ranch High Maverick Belles danced in the Super Bowl halftime at NRG Stadium. The team’s coach, April Hunt, was told about the Maverick Belles participation in the half-time Super Bowl event during the month of December, but the dancers could not reveal their participation as part of an agreement with the NFL. It was a tough task for the students, but the coach and team came through. They practiced for several weeks, and on Super Bowl day they enjoyed collaborating with Lady Gaga. On Sunday, they met the American singer, songwriter, actress and record producer and practiced the performance with her. It was an honor for Katy ISD students to be a part of this historical moment.
