More than 750 guests enjoyed the second annual Farm & Vineyard Faire held Sunday afternoon, April 30 at Fulshear Run, a prestigious new acreage-lot residential community in Fulshear. When the People’s Choice ballots were tallied, Sapore Ristorante Italiano emerged as the crowd favorite in the Faire, followed by second place Express Italia, and third place, Imperial BBQ.

Featured restaurants in the Faire included Agave Rio, Clancy’s Public House, Express Italia, Great Harvest Bread Co., Fadi’s Mediterranean Grill, Hanna Garden, Imperial BBQ, Little V’s Vietnamese Bistro, Ol’ Railroad, Sapore Ristorante Italiano, Salt & Pepper Restaurant and Songkran Thai Grill.

Fans of fine food and award-winning wines enjoyed a sunny afternoon of farm-to-fork “signature bites” and family fun. Highlighting the afternoon were meet-and-greets with celebrity chefs Monica Pope of Bravo’s Top Chef Masters, and Jose Hernandez, executive chef of Radio Milano, and organically-themed presentations.

Proceeds from the event benefitted the Friends of Fort Bend County Historical Commission, who were in the spotlight that afternoon. Doug Konopka, event host and president of DHK Development, developer of Fulshear Run, introduced members of the Historical Commission and presented them with a colorful Faire apron signed by the top chefs in appreciation for their outstanding contributions to the county.

“We thank the Historical Commission for their valuable support of projects that preserve our county’s treasured historical and cultural heritage,” said Konopka. “Our county has an amazing history and we are proud to support this organization and celebrate its commitment.”

Honorary event chairs were Richmond Mayor Evalyn Moore, and local civic and business leaders Carole McCann, Robert Crosser and Ken Stubbe. Event chairs were Doug and April Konopka.

Thanks to the programming provided by Forever Fulshear/Fulshear Farmer’s Market, attendees enjoyed learning about the health benefits of local honey and home grown herbs amidst the scenic backdrop of a community featuring century-old pecans, hilly terrain and unique amenities. The Fulshear Farmer’s Market, located in Fulshear Run, features 30 vendors each Saturday, and draws an average of 2,500 to the area each month.

Event sponsors were Trendmaker Homes, Fulshear Run, Land Rover Southwest Houston, Fairmont Homes, Sapphire Homes, CAMBRIA, NewFirst National Bank, Prime Living Magazine, Avenu, Rombauer Vineyards, Favorite Brands, Vineyard Brands, The Macallan, Topo Chico, Flora Springs Winery & Vineyards, DHK Development, Inc., Fulshear Magazine and Red Potato Market.

“What a great and tasty event,” said guest Lori Voller, who travelled from west Houston to attend. “The breezy day and beautiful setting of Fulshear Run was ideal. It was fun seeing people of all ages have an enjoyable afternoon together.”
