Sun-Drenched Southern California Climate

When September rolls around, Houstonians are ready to feel the chill of the fall’s first cool front. Summer is over; the kids are back in school; and we can begin to plan our next getaway. One place that always brings the best of any season is Southern California, and after a long hot summer in H-Town, there may be no place lovelier than Newport Beach and no destination more alluring than The Resort at Pelican Hill.

As if the cooler climate weren’t enough (fall temperatures range from lows in the 60s to highs in the 70s) from the moment of arrival, you’ll experience a place like no other. The Resort at Pelican Hill is inspired by the work of 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio, best known for his grand homes across the Venetian countryside. Resembling its Tuscan counterparts, the Resort nestles into the hillside along the sea, making the most of the natural setting. Distinctive Palladian elements include elegant corniced columns and courtyards, rows of arched porticos, barrel-vaulted ceilings, multi-story entry rotundas, flowing fountains, and archways framing vivid vistas of the sea. The sun-drenched climate of Southern California, like the Italian Riviera, allows for indoor spaces to open up to the outdoors and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.

Pelican Hill has been internationally heralded for its emphasis on detail unprecedented in the resort world, including an unparalleled array of appointments, luxurious guest rooms and suites, an iconic “Coliseum Pool” with tiered decks and luxurious cabanas, a grand spa experience and the acclaimed Pelican Hill Golf Club. The resort’s unfailing reputation of indulging its guests with the finest of everything has garnered Pelican Hill multiple industry awards.

3D My Swing Evaluation

The Golf Academy debuted this new instruction this year. Using the most advanced 3D equipment in a wireless outdoor environment, this two-hour evaluation focuses on your swing and how your body moves. Better than video analysis, this personalized 3D motion study provides quantifiable data about the angles, speeds and velocities of your golf swing. Certified PGA Golf Instructor Tim Mitchell and Glenn Deck, Golf Magazine “Top 100 Teacher in America,” evaluate the 3D data to better understand and improve your swing. $400 per student per session; advance booking required.

Apple Harvest Specials

When apples are picked at just the right time, they’re flavorful, juicy and crisp as an autumn breeze. So for the Apple Harvest Specials at Coliseum Pool & Grill, fresh apples are plucked at their peak from Southern California’s Julian orchards. Taste the difference in the á la carte menu specials, house-made warm apple cider, seasonal gelato and, of course, delectable apple pie. Available beginning in mid-September.

White Truffle Menu at Andrea Ristorante

Andrea Ristorante celebrates an exquisite delicacy from Alba, Italy, with seasonal á la carte dishes. Heralded as “the diamond of the kitchen,” white truffles still maintain haute cuisine status in the culinary world. Á la carte servings available at market price, based upon availability. Available October through December.

Pamper your face with this seasonal 50-minute Pumpkin Spice Facial that helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles, acne and hyper-pigmentation.
