Hello! As the newest member of the Katy/Fulshear Lifestyles & Homes magazine family, I look forward to bringing you photos from the events and happenings we treasure in our community.
After a wonderful and fulfilling 9-plus years, the time has come to say adieu! I have had the pleasure and privilege of meeting many outstanding people and attending various cultural, civic and service-oriented events during my years doing Socially Speaking.
Foodtrucks And Fireflies
More than 700 guests attended Fireflies and Foodtrucks, the Katy ISD Education Foundation’s legendary end-of-summer bash, on September 17. Held every year at Katy’s own No Label Brewery, the event kicks off the school year as a unique, energetic fundraiser for the Foundation’s Inspiring Imagination teacher grant program.
BREAKFAST FOR A BLESSING
Christ Clinic in Katy hosted its 4th annual “Breakfast for a Blessing” on Sept. 18 at the Omni Houston Hotel Westside. This year’s guest speaker was Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale. The breakfast was a fundraiser to help the organization move into their new space.
Katy Summer Tailgate
This brand new event merged with last year’s Taste of Katy. The fun occupied the streets of historic Katy. It included a Fun Zone, vendor booths, a row of restaurants with plenty to satisfy any craving, and a street dance to the fabulous tunes of the Texas Twisters. Entry fee to this event was either a backpack or bag of school supplies.
ABWA Officer Installation
The ABWA Katy Charter Chapter recently had its installation of officers meeting. It was a well-attended and fun affair. The new board members are Kitty Tennison from iMortgage as treasurer; Terry Mooneyham from Lincoln Financial as vice president; and Debi Ilijev, a master stylist at Highland Salon, as president.
Mik’s Hidden Hearts Alliance
Mik’s Hidden Hearts Alliance partnered again with Maggiano’s Little Italy for the 2015 3rd Annual Anti-PROM for teens and young adults with Dysautonomia and other life-changing chronic illnesses.
Jazz With A Latin Flair
The Katy ISD Education Foundation hosted Jazz with a Latin Flair on April 24. Held in partnership with the Katy Jazz Festival V.I.P reception, the event benefited the foundation and its Inspiring Imagination teacher grant program.
